Cross Fenway Park’s Home Plate to Help Wounded Veterans and Their Families

The Red Sox will host the third annual Run to Home Base on May 20.

The 2012 Run-Walk to Home Base Presented by New Balance is a 9K (5.6 mile) run and a 3-mile walk to benefit the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program.

Runners and walkers begin and end at historic Fenway Park. After winding their way through Boston, there’s a timed finish at the Green Monster followed by a photo finish at Fenway’s home plate, where friends and family are invited inside Fenway to cheer you on from the stands. Runners must be 16 and older, however, all ages may participate as walkers.

Funds raised will go to clinical care for vets returning from Iraq and Afghanistan with combat stress or traumatic brain injury and counseling for their families.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.

Through their continued efforts in the local community, Aetna is helping to build a healthier world -- one city and one strikeout at a time.
