Report: Liverpool Targets Matias Suarez for Summer Transfer, RSC Anderlecht Wants £20 Million for StrikerMatias Suarez has emerged as Liverpool’s top target for the upcoming summer transfer window. The Reds will battle a number of English and European clubs for the RSC Anderlecht striker’s signature, according to the Mirror.

“Liverpool are preparing to buy another Suarez -– after Anderlecht’s £20 million [$31.7 million] rated striker Matias Suarez emerged as their top target,” the Mirror reports. “Kop technical director Damien Comolli has watched the 23-year-old Argentinian in recent months –- but Liverpool are just one of three Premier League clubs monitoring the player.”

LFC, Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and West Bromwich Albion are among the teams who have reportedly scouted Suarez in recent months. He is a versitaile striker, who can both create and finish scoring chances. He usually plays in a central role, but can play in the wide areas as well.

Of the group, only West Brom would have difficulty meeting the Belgian club’s asking price. If Suarez moves to a more competitive league, he would lkely choose a team that will participate in either the UEFA Champions or Europa Leagues.

It is almost certain that Suarez will leave Anderlecht before Sept. 1, as his dominant performances in Belgium’s Jupiler Pro League leave little doubt that he is ready to take the next step in his career. The club sits atop the standings after the regular season phase, and his 10 goals and 16 assists make him a favorite to win the player of the season award.

Earlier this month, the Mail reported his told Calciomercato.com that Suarez was attracting interest from potential suitors in Italy and England.

“In April I will be in Italy to discuss his future,” Jorge Cyterzpiler said. “In the summer he will certainly move on but Anderlecht won’t let him go for cheap.”
