Tim Tebow Trade Reportedly Met With Skepticism by Several Anonymous Jets Players

Backup quarterbacks don’t really get introductory news conferences, do they?

Well, if Tim Tebow is said backup, then yes they do. Tebow will be introduced at a news conference at the Jets team headquarters at noon on Monday. The event is expected to draw such a large turnout that the Jets will host it inside their fieldhouse where their indoor practice field is located, marking the first time the area has been used for a press event.

This is obviously just the tip of the iceberg, though, when it comes to the media circus surrounding Tebow’s tenure with the Jets. And that understanding isn’t limited to just those on the outside looking in.

Some Jets players are wary about bringing in Tebow, according to the New York Post. Apparently they too are having a hard time wrapping their heads around the whole idea of a backup quarterback generating such buzz.

“All of the attention on Tebow has some Jets shaking their heads,” Brian Costello of the New York Post wrote. “Several current Jets, who spoke with The Post Saturday, asked not to be quoted but expressed disbelief at the team bringing Tebow in.”

The fact that the Jets players who expressed disbelief asked to remain anonymous shouldn’t be all that surprising. After all, several anonymous Jets sources said earlier this offseason that they wanted Peyton Manning, calling Mark Sanchez “lazy” in the process.

Sanchez doesn’t appear to be one of the anonymous sources concerned with the Tebow trade, though, as Costello reports that someone close to Sanchez said the quarterback is handling the situation “fine.”

Stay tuned.
