Alfredo Aceves Prepares to be Red Sox Closer as Opening Day Looms (Video)

Alfredo Aceves has gone from being the odd man out in the Red Sox’ rotation to being the pitcher the team will rely on to close its victories.

After word came out that Andrew Bailey would be sidelined for four to five months with a thumb injury, all eyes turned to Aceves, who was a reliable reliever in all kinds of situations for the Sox last season.

Manager Bobby Valentine confirmed that Aceves would be the go-to man, and Aceves appears to be relishing the role.

Aetna Strikeouts for A Cause

For every strikeout by a Red Sox pitcher at Fenway Park in June, Aetna will donate $250 to Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program. Through June 25, the donation mark stands at $30,000.

Through their continued efforts in the local community, Aetna is helping to build a healthier world -- one city and one strikeout at a time.
