Brandon Meriweather has had his share of run-ins with the law — whether proven true or not. But this time, it looks like the current Redskins and former Patriots safety actually did some jail time.
Meriwether was pulled over by police at 2:54 a.m. on Wednesday night and arrested for drunk driving in Arlington, Virginia, according to ARLnow.com. Police smelled alcohol on his breath and decided to perform a field sobriety test on Meriweather. The two-time Pro Bowler failed the test and reportedly couldn't remember the name of the club he was driving home from.
Meriweather was held in an Arlington jail over night and has since been released.
Meriweather signed a two-year, $6 million contract with Washington last month. Last season he played 11 games for the Bears, starting four and recording just 32 tackles on the season. During his four seasons in New England, Meriweather played a vital role in the team's defensive success, making 261 tackles and grabbing all of his 12 career interceptions.
