Sudden death? More like sudden victory.

Chris Kelly slapped home the game-winner a mere 78 seconds into overtime, and suddenly the Bruins were up 1-0 in Round 1 against the Washington Capitals.

Tim Thomas made 17 saves, Zdeno Chara and the defense kept Alex Ovechkin in check and an overall team effort gave the Bruins a dramatic win that will hopefully propel them on their way to defending the Stanley Cup.

NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette is awarding Kelly our “Slapshot Stunner” award after this one for coming through in the clutch. Who’s your player of the game? Vote in the poll below and leave your thoughts on the game in the comments below.
