Kelly Shoppach accomplished a long sought after feat on Friday afternoon. No, it wasn't starting for the Red Sox on Opening Day at Fenway Park, but rather it was finally stealing a base in the big leagues.
Shoppach, who had never recorded a stolen base in his seven MLB seasons, finally pillaged the basepaths for the first time. But Shoppach's feat wasn't with humor, as the backstop nearly botched the play by prematurely sliding and popping up over his own feet and slamming face first into second bad.
Teammate Cody Ross had some fun with Shoppach after the game, joking about his near botched attempt during Red Sox Clubhouse Uncut.
Check out the video above to hear Ross rant about his teammates near miss.
