What better way to mark Patriots’ Day than to honor some Patriots?
In addition to recognizing those who protect and serve the United States, the Sox decided to bring in some former Boston Patriots players, including Gino Cappelletti, who threw out the first pitch before Monday’s matinee game.
Cappelletti joined some of his former Patriots teammates on the Fenway Park infield on Monday. Among the former Pats who stood alongside Cappelletti as he delivered his first pitch were running back Larry Garron (1960-68), wide receiver Art Graham (1963-68) and tackle Milt Graham (1961-63).
Cappelletti, a five-time Pro Bowler, laced them up for the Patriots from 1960-1970. He was selected to five Pro Bowls and was named the MVP of the American Football League (AFL) in 1964.
The Patriots, of course, were referred to as the Boston Patriots from 1960-1970, spending their first nine years of existence in the now defunct AFL.
