Josh Beckett gave the Red Sox pitching staff an even bigger scare on Monday, revealing that he was seeking a second opinion on a thumb injury.
After reportedly losing closer Andrew Bailey for a few months due to his own thumb issue, Beckett eased some concerns on Tuesday indicating that his hand was fine afterall.
According to WBZ-TV's Dan Roche, when asked if there was any concern over his thumb injury Beckett responded saying there was "none."
Beckett appears to be healthy for the start of the season and even indicated that he's ready to make his first start on Saturday in Detroit.
There remains some concerns over Boston's pitching staff heading into Opening Day, especially given Bailey's injury, but Beckett's health and presence in the rotation should provide a huge boost for a team still seen by many as containing flaws on the mound.
