The Reds have already lifted the Carling Cup, and are in the semifinal of the FA Cup. One or two trophies is not the worst return from what was expected to be a transitional season. However, questions remain.
It's difficult to make sense of Liverpool's season. On its day, LFC can beat any team in the league, as wins against Chelsea, Arsenal and both Manchester clubs (in cup competitions) have shown.
But the Reds can be maddeningly inconsistent as well, having struggled against the likes of Wigan, Queens Park Rangers, and Bolton. Fans and analysts have been scratching their heads trying to figure out just what this team is made of.
