The Boston Bruins are about to embark on their Stanley Cup title defense in the playoffs.
The B's were the last team to drink from the Cup after securing their first championship in more than 39 years last June. But the NHL is now giving fans their own chance to "drink from the Cup."
The NHL has erected a 21-foot high, 6,600-pound repicla of the Stanley Cup trophy in the middle of New York City's Times Square from Wednesday until Friday to kickoff the 2012 playoffs.
The replica will serve as a working water fountain during its stay in the Big Apple, allowing fans and visitors from around the world to take part in a long-standing NHL tradition, and drink from the cup.
