Patriots Announce Signings of Dan Koppen, Chris Koepplin

The Patriots officially announced the signings of center Dan Koppen and kicker Chris Koepplin on Monday after each player reportedly reached an agreement with the team last week.

Koppen will be back with the Patriots for his 10th season, but he'll be competing for his starting job for the first time in a while. Last month, the Patriots gave Dan Connolly a three-year that could reportedly be worth as much as $9.7 million.

Koepplin, who played at UMass from 2006-07, was in New England's training camp last season, when kicker Stephen Gostkowski was slowly working his way back from a torn quadriceps. The Patriots have routinely used two kickers in training camp to keep the strain off the starter, and Koepplin will again be used in that capacity.
