Paulo Jorge may not have anything on Ronnie Lott when it comes to toughness, but the APOEL defender nominated himself for an Ironman award during Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash with Real Madrid.
In the second half, a collision with teammate William Boaventura sent Jorge’s teeth flying. He then calmly walked over to the sideline where he was examined by his coach and a staff member.
The tough-as-nails 31-year-old realized that another tooth was dangerously loose, so he did what anyone else would do. He pulled it out, threw it on the ground, spit some blood, and went back into the game so he could continue to kick Cristiano Ronaldo.
APOEL will forever be remembered for its Cinderella run to the quarterfinals of the Champions League, but anyone who watches the video won’t soon forget the look on the face of Jorge’s coach when he pulled his own tooth and threw it too the ground.
Real Madrid beat APOEL 5-2, in case you were wondering.
