When news broke that Andrew Bailey needed to undergo surgery that would keep him sidelined for the first few months of the season, questions quickly arose in regard to how manager Bobby Valentine would handle his bullpen.
Three games into the season, many of those questions remain. Alfredo Aceves hasn’t been sharp as the team’s closer, which could eventually result in a change in that department, and many of the pen’s other hurlers are still without a defined role.
Jerry Remy discussed the Red Sox’ bullpen situation prior to Sunday’s Sox-Tigers clash, and he said that he thought Daniel Bard — who has moved to the starting rotation — was the perfect guy to fill Jonathan Papelbon‘s shoes upon the longtime Boston closer’s departure.
Remy also discussed Josh Beckett‘s thumb injury and the lineup changes that Valentine made Sunday. Check it all out in the video above.
