Making your lawn look like Fenway Park's is a tough task, but designing your own fancy pattern just got a little easier thanks to David Mellor.
Mellor, who has worked as a groundskeeper at Fenway for 28 years, showed the Wall Street Journal some tricks of the trade that all fans of baseball or nice lawns could use to spruce up their own turf.
The art of creating grass patterns, also known as "striping," apparently isn't too difficult. It's as simple as bending the grass in different directions. Contrary to what you may think, the Red Sox don't paint the grass — instead, it all boils down to which way the grass is cut, or rolled, using some simple tools.
