Metta World Peace isn't usually the kind of guy to run from the spotlight, but the situation has changed over the last few days.

World Peace, who has drawn the ire of fans as well as whispers of suspension after sending an elbow into the head of Oklahoma City's James Harden on Sunday, has canceled his appearance on Conan O'Brien's late night show, according to ESPN's John Ireland. World Peace's publicist, Drew Shane, confirmed the cancellation Tuesday night.

World Peace wasn't on Conan's official list Tuesday, with Simon Helberg, Jerry Crowley and Haley Reinhart billed as the guests instead.

The show announced last Tuesday that World Peace would be on the show, and producers did not give a reason why he wouldn't appear Tuesday night.
