Alessandro Nesta Could Become Latest European Soccer Hero to Join MLSOn Thursday, Alessandro Nesta announced that he will leave AC Milan at the end of the season. He is looking into the possibility of playing for an MLS team.

Nesta played 10 years with Milan, but the 36-year-old said, "I can no longer play at the high level of the Italian league, the Champions League, the Italian Cup. I don't want to spend my time on the bench."

Nesta has not made contact with any club but said he would "be very happy" to play in MLS.

The Italian defender won two Serie A and two UEFA Champions League titles with Milan. He also won the 2006 World Cup with the Italian national team.

Nesta played with Lazio for nine years before reaching Milan. He is looking to finally play outside of his home country.

Nesta would be the latest of many European legends that have decided to finish out their careers in MLS, including David Beckham, Thierry Henry and Robbie Keane.
