Brazil Unveils 'All in One Rhythm' as Official Slogan of 2014 FIFA World Cup, But Questions About Preparedness RemainOn Tuesday, FIFA and Brazil unveiled "All in one rhythm" as the official slogan of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The slogan — created by Brazilian communications company Aktuell — was selected ahead of 25 competing slogans submitted by six companies. The announcement was made at a presentation attended by FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke, Brazil's legendary striker Ronaldo and other dignitaries, according to FIFA.com

"The Official Slogan is the result of a joint effort between Brazil and the world of football to find a unifying message which represents the unique flavor that Brazil will bring to the FIFA World Cup. Based around the central idea of 'rhythm,' it will unite fans in Brazil and abroad, around what will be a colorful and vibrant celebration set to a uniquely Brazilian rhythm," said Valcke.

The slogan, translated from the Portuguese phrase "Juntos num so ritmo," is an "invitation to everybody … to find and explore the new rhythm of Brazil: the rhythm of unity and diversity, the rhythm of innovation, the rhythm of nature, the rhythm of football, and the rhythm of Brazilian culture," according to Aldo Rebelo, the Brazilian sports minister.

The announcement of the slogan comes at a time when Brazil is facing heavy criticism regarding its ability to host the tournament. Proposed developments to airports and stadiums are well behind schedule and a potential logistical nightmare looms ahead for tournament organizers and sponsors.

These concerns came to a head following the public war of words between Valcke and Rebelo in early March. Valcke's criticism of Brazilian preparations spurred Rebelo to declare that Brazil would no longer work with the Frenchman. However, a public apology from Valcke — using the tried and true "lost in translation" excuse — seems to have smoothed things over for the time being.
