Liverpool Live Blog: Makeshift Reds Fail to Impress Against Fulham, Fall 1-0 at AnfieldFinal, 1-0 Fulham: Fulham has won at Anfield for the first time in its history. The makeshift LFC team did no service to itself in the dull defeat.

With the FA Cup final taking place on Saturday, Dalglish rotated his team giving some players a chance to stake their claim for playing time in the big game. Carroll and Skrtel, two LFC regulars, played well enough, but the others lacked the sharpness and drive to get the best of Fulham.

Skrtel's own goal was the only difference in the score. There was also little difference between the two teams, as both failed to control the play.

Liverpool and Fulham are now tied on points (with 49), but the eighth-placed Reds lead in the standings on goal difference.

That's all for now and thanks for joining us. Let's discuss this one on Twitter @NESNsoccer and Facebook. Be sure to keep an eye out for some news, fan reactions, analysis and opinion that is on the way on NESN.com.

93rd minute, 1-0 Fulham: Kelly fouls Carroll within shooting distance of the goal.

90th minute, 1-0 Fulham: The Reds will have four minutes of added time to find a way to score the equalizer.

85th minute, 1-0 Fulham: The Reds are struggling to find a way through the Fulham defense.

It's not that the Cottagers are so determined and composed without the ball.

The Reds are lacking a bit of sharpness and cutting edge in the final third. They haven't threatened Schwarzer in over 20 minutes.

80th minute, 1-0 Fulham: Etuhu comes on for Pogrebnyak.

Fulham is trying to lock up the game with this move.

78th minute, 1-0 Fulham: Dempsey walks in on Doni, but the LFC goalkeeper makes an excellent save to deny the American forward.

76th minute, 1-0 Fulham: Sterling has come on in place of Kuyt. It's his second first-team appearance for the Reds.

75th minute, 1-0 Fulham: As the game reaches its last quarter of an hour, it's hard to see where the goals are going to come from.

Kuyt, Maxi and Downing have not been effective in providing Carroll service. The LFC striker hasn't been clinical in front of goal either.

66th minute, 1-0 Fulham: Enrique replaces Aurelio.

It could be the final time Aurelio plays at Anfield. He departs to a nice applause from the crowd.

65th minute, 1-0 Fulham: Carroll's header goes agonizingly wide.

The big man got up and headed Aurelio's cross down, but he could not aim it on target.

63rd minute, 1-0 Fulham: Frei rifles a shot off the post.

Dempsey set him up at the top of the area, and he unleashed a right-footed drive that beat Doni.

58th minute, 1-0 Fulham: Kacaniklic has been replaced by Frei.

The former LFC academy player made little impact apart from making the touch that led to Skrtel's own goal.

53rd minute, 1-0 Fulham: Dempsey out-jumps Skrtel and flashes a header just wide.

LFC cannot afford to concede another goal, as it has not shown much creativity on the day. There are also very few attacking options on the bench to turn the game around.

48th minute, 1-0 Fulham: Dempsey slipped and lost the ball to Spearing, who ran forward and shot on goal.

Schwarzer made the save.

But it's good to see the LFC midfielder venturing forward from time to time. He's good at tackling and breaking up plays, and making the simple passes, but he can add an extra attacking dimension to his game.

46th minute, 1-0 Fulham: Downing has come in for Henderson as the second half gets under way.

Halftime, 1-0 Fulham: The first half comes to close at a good time for Fulham.

The Reds were in control of the game, and they started to create chance after chance.

It took 20 minutes or so for LFC to grow into the game, but it had already conceded a goal by then.

Dempsey's lively start helped Fulham gain the early advantage.

After the goal, Fulham sat back and allowed LFC to dictate the tempo and direction of the game.

45th minute, 1-0 Fulham: Carroll wins another header and draws a save from Schwarzer.

Aurelio crossed from the left. Carroll was in a good postion to attack the ball, and he out-muscled Hangeland to win the header.

He headed low, but Schwarzer was in a good spot to stop it.

43rd minute, 1-0 Fulham: Shelvey is the next Red to test Schwarzer.

He ran onto Carroll's through-ball and shot just wide.

The young LFC midfielder needs to keep making those forward runs in support of Carroll.

42nd minute, 1-0 Fulham: Carroll is starting to impose himself in the air.

Kuyt found him with a cross at the far post, and the LFC striker headed it back across the face of goal.

Carroll's header failed to find a teammate, but it was a real moment of danger.

36th minute, 1-0 Fulham: LFC is gradually improving and starting to create chances.

Carroll wins a header on a corner kick and flicks it to Maxi, whose header goes high.

29th minute, 1-0 Fulham: Skrtel is down after taking an elbow from Dempsey.

The two players were jumping for a header, Dempsey lead with his elbow and caught Skrtel on the back of the head.

He is now back up and running.

28th minute, 1-0 Fulham: Schwarzer and Hangeland combine to keep LFC off the board.

Shelvey's shot was initially saved by the Fulham goalkeeper, but it slipped though his grasp and rolled toward the goal.

But the towering Norwegian defender was perfectly positioned to clear it off the line.

24th minute, 1-0 Fulham: Kuyt comes close to the equalizer.

A deflection fell to him at the top of the area, and he hit it on the volley.

It had Schwarzer beat, but it swerved wide.

20th minute, 1-0 Fulham: LFC is just starting to come to life.

The Reds are pressing better in the midfield, and the latest bout created a chance for Maxi.

He skied his shot well over the bar, but it was an encouraging moment in a dour first 20 minutes for Liverpool.

15th minute, 1-0 Fulham: Fulham catches LFC on the break and nearly doubles its lead.

Dempsey received the ball 25 yards from goal and played a chip over the defense to Pogrebnyak.

The Russian's striker latched onto the ball and shot, but Doni saved it well.

11th minute, 1-0 Fulham: Danny Murphy receives a warm applause from the Kop as he prepares to take a corner kick.

Fifth minute, 1-0 Fulham: The Reds have fallen behind after Skrtel scores an own goal.

Dempsey was the catalyst of the play. He controlled the ball near the LFC area and played it left to Riise.

The former LFC fullback played a hard low cross which Kacaniklic (another former Red) deflected off of Skrtel's shoulder.

Doni was leaning the wrong way and was unable to keep it out of the goal.

Second minute, 0-0: This one is off to a slow start, as Fulham takes a cautious approach to the early goings, and Liverpool's makeshift team tries to find its rhythm.

Pregame: Dalglish has rotated the team again, making nine changes from Saturday's team.

Henderson and Shelvey are the only holdovers from the last LFC game.

12 a.m. ET: As good as Saturday's victory over Norwich City was for Liverpool FC and its fans, the Reds barely had time to savor it. Their Premier League campaign continues on Tuesday when Fulham FC comes to Anfield.

Fulham grinded out a 1-0 victory when these two teams met in December. Clint Dempsey scored a poacher's goal which stood as the difference. That game also saw Jordan Henderson and Stewart Downing hit the post, and Jay Spearing was sent off for a hard tackle. The Reds will be looking for a measure of revenge against the Cottagers.

LFC players will take the field knowing their places in Saturday's FA Cup final are at stake. Martin Skrtel was rested against Norwich, but he should be restored to the starting 11. That was also the case for Spearing. Andy Carroll has overcome a groin problem that kept him out of the Norwich game. He should see a good amount of playing time on Tuesday.

Fulham trails Liverpool by three points in the league standings. It will look to rebound from the 4-0 drubbing suffered on Saturday at Everton by crossing Stanley Park and taking points from Anfield back to London.

Dempsey and Pavel Pogrebnyak have formed a dangerous partnership up top. While Former Reds John Arne Riise and Danny Murphy hope to turn in a top performance in front of their former supporters.
