The fountains at Kansas City’s Kauffman Stadium are a nice touch. They’re also off-limits.

That didn’t stop one fan from plunging into one of the fountains on Sunday, though.

Royals catcher Humberto Quintero connected on a home run in the seventh inning. The ball traveled into the seats in left but richoceted off the hands of a few fans before sailing over the railing and into one of the fountains. That’s when the fan went against the requests of Kauffman Stadium security to retrieve the gopher ball.

Security guards could be seen trying to stop the man before he made the leap, and they subsequently hauled him away after he came out drenched.

It wasn’t exactly the smartest move considering right near where he jumped, there’s a sign that reads, “Warning, persons entering the fountains will be arrested and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Well, I guess when you’re at a Royals game, you’ve got to find some way to stay occupied.
