If many Celtics fans had their way, the C's would be selecting Austin Rivers with their first pick in the 2012 NBA Draft this Thursday. It would make sense, after all, reuniting coach Doc Rivers with his talented son.
Unfortunately, rival teams around the league are likely to make sure that pipe dream does not become a reality for Boston come draft day.
Despite some character concerns, Rivers is much too talented to fall into the Celtics' laps at pick No. 21. That doesn't mean the Celtics won't try to move up and grab a talented player, however, considering their chances at bundling their two selections late in the first round to try and get a lottery pick.
