Injuries might be the only thing able to slow down the Yankees.
The hottest team in baseball suffered a tough blow on Wednesday with the news that ace CC Sabathia is being placed on the disabled list with a Grade 1 strain of the adductor muscle near his left leg — his groin.
"He doesn't want to go on [the DL], but he understands it's the best thing to do," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "Missing two starts is better than seven or eight."
Sabathia is 9-3 on the year with a 3.45 ERA for the Yankees, who are 18-5 in June. They currently lead the American League East by four games but could see that lead dwindle with Sabathia on the shelf.
