The emergence of Jeremy Lin took the nation by storm, and at times the Knicks looked like a team that could gel together for a deep playoff run. But the team hit lows, too, plagued by the injuries of Amare Stoudemire, Carmelo Anthony, Tyson Chandler and Lin.
The Knicks made some progress after parting ways with head coach Mike D'Antoni and hiring Mike Woodson as his replacement. The team surged past the Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks to get the seventh seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, only to get blown out in five games by the Miami Heat.
With so much talent on a team filled with star players, the Knicks are a very interesting group. They are in one of the premier sports markets, with some of the game's biggest stars and a new coach taking over for his first full season at the head of the team. The Knicks also need to deal with a free agent situation at their shooting guard position.
The Knicks have several issues to fix for the 2012-2013 season. But if New York can come up with answers to their weaknesses, they could be a very dangerous team come playoff time next year.
