Mark Prior Could Eventually Get Call-Up, But Junichi Tazawa More Likely to Make Impact (Podcast)Mark Prior hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since 2006, but he’s starting to turn some heads down in Pawtucket.

If the right-hander continues to thrive with Boston’s Triple-A affiliate, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he could find his way back to the majors this season. However, the Red Sox have some other arms that they’d likely call upon before Prior, including Clayton Mortensen and Junichi Tazawa.

The Sox have already called Mark Melancon back up in the wake of Rich Hill heading to the disabled list, so it’ll also be interesting to see what he can bring to the table two months removed from some early-season struggles. Manager Bobby Valentine may opt to ease Melancon back into things, but the hurler could eventually return to a late-inning role like he had — and excelled in — with the Astros.

NESN.com MLB writer Didier Morais caught up with Ricky Doyle to discuss Boston’s bullpen situation and much more. The two touched upon the Nationals’ success this year, what’s going on with Dustin Pedroia and what we should see from the Marlins as the Red Sox kick off three-game set down in Miami.
