While adidas is catching heat, Nike is receiving praise.

Nike has released an ad campaign called “Be True,” which aims to support the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) community. As part of the campaign, the company is releasing some rainbow-themed sneakers.

“BE TRUE 2012 celebrates the achievements of the New York City, San Francisco and Portland communities as progressive leaders of LGBT life with city-specific footwear releases and accompanying hat and tee,” the company’s website says.

This campaign comes in the wake of a controversy involving adidas. Adidas planned to sell shoes that included built-in shackles, which has led to plenty of public outcry from those who feel the kicks convey images of slavery.
