Portugal was drawn into the "Group of Death" at Euro 2012, with experts predicting it to fail to qualify for the knockout rounds. Instead, the Portuguese not only advanced from their group, but made it within inches of reaching the final.
The team was based around captain, and world-class prima donna, Cristiano Ronaldo. The Real Madrid superstar got off to a sluggish start, but eventually turned in dominating performances in leading his national team to the semifinals against Spain. The Portuguese fought their way to a penalty shoot-out before eventually succumbing.
Portugal has much to be proud of, not least of all its gorgeous fans. The Portuguese were consistently amongst the loudest, most colorful and prettiest fans in every stadium to which they traveled. The players gave them plenty to cheer about, and the fans spurred them on in turn, making Euro 2012 a tournament to remember for all of Portugal.
