The Red Sox wrapped up their draft on Wednesday night, selecting 25 players in rounds 16-40 of the 2012 MLB Draft.

While the first few rounds saw the Sox focus heavily on adding new arms to the pitching staff, there was very little of the same type of uniformity in the late rounds.

Of the 42 players drafted by the Red Sox, 27 have college resumes under their belts while the remaining 15 boast impressive high school experience. The Sox selected 23 pitchers, eight infielders, eight outfielders and three catchers in this year's draft.

In round 21, Boston selected first baseman Jake Davies out of Georgia Tech as the 661st overall pick. Davies, a lefty power hitter who batted .326, going 78-for-239 this season, posted team bests at GT this season with 14 home runs and 73 RBI in 63 games. Davies also has a brother, Kyle, who saw some time as a pitcher in the majors and had stints with the Braves and Royals between 2005 and 2011.

The Sox also kept it local in the later rounds of the draft, picking up three players with noteable New England ties. In round 36, the Sox scooped up UNC-Charlotte catcher Miguel Rodriguez, son of Red Sox Minor League hitting coordinator Victor Rodriguez and brother of Sox scout Victor Rodriguez, Jr.

Just prior to Rodriguez, the Sox drafted local prospect Pat Delano, a right-handed pitcher from Braintree High School. Through 57 innings, Delano recorded four wins and 50 strikeouts while posting a 1.21 ERA. He was eventually named MVP of the Bay State Conference's Carey Division.

And with their final pick in round 40, the Sox selected Amherst College senior outfielder Kevin Heller. Throughout his four years at Amherst, Heller posted a .358 batting average with 18 homers and 126 RBI in 127 games. He was also named NESCAC All-Conference First Team in 2012.
