Report: Red Sox Inquire About Gerardo Parra in Trade Talks With DiamondbacksThe Red Sox have plenty of outfielders in the mix — something that will become more evident when Jacoby Ellsbury and Carl Crawford return. That doesn’t mean an upgrade is out of the question.

The Sox asked the Diamondbacks about outfielder Gerardo Parra when Arizona checked in on Kevin Youkilis, according to FOX Sports Arizona’s Jack Magruder.

Parra, who won a Gold Glove with the D-Backs last season, is hitting .260 with five home runs and has 21 RBIs in 58 games this season. Parra is a career .280 hitter, and is known for being a very solid defensive outfielder. The 25-year-old is an important piece out in the desert, so it’s unsurprising that Arizona was in no rush to deal him away.

This latest rumor adds even more fuel to the Youkilis trade speculation, which has become a major conversation piece around Boston, despite general manager Ben Cherington‘s insistence that “there’s nothing going on.”
