Theo Epstein made a name for himself in Boston as he harnessed the power of sabermetrics to spur the Red Sox on to two World Series titles.
But the former Boston general manager has an uphill task waiting for him at his next job, with the Chicago Cubs. Like the Red Sox, the Cubs have endured years of missed opportunities, but they have many more cracks in their baseball foundation than the Sox had when Epstein arrived.
If the boy wonder who won it all with the Sox hopes to have similar success in Chicago, he may need more than statistics and data.
