The New England Patriots get five weeks off after the conclusion of their three-day minicamp, but the vacation is over for the AFC champion squad.
There were plenty of off-the-field storyines hovering around the past few days — Rob Gronkowski's contract, Wes Welker's lack thereof, Chad Ochocinco's release — but, in the words of Tom Brady, the minicamp itself is a much simpler function. Whatever a player needs to do to get up to speed before the season, this is when they figure out what they need to work on. And, as described by Brady, the workout is a happy alternative to boredom.
