BCS Motivated by Pork, Not Pigskin, When It Finally Succumbed to Playoff Format for College Football College football fans have been clamoring for playoffs for years, but the movers and shakers that call the shots had to see the dough before they'd make the switch.

College university presidents gave the final OK recently for college football playoffs to start, keeping the BCS and bowl fans happy while adding some competition — and big bucks at the end of the season.

In this move, though, it was clear from the beginning that this wasn't about the good of the pigskin, and the sport as a whole. This move was mostly motivated by pork.
