Benny Feilhaber can turn the most hardened ice-cream skeptic into a believer. All he needs is a good cause, a couple of hours and a Ben & Jerry's flavor that has yet to be released to the public.
Feilhaber spent part of Friday scooping for charity. The Revolution playmaker scooped and served customers' orders at Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop on Newbury St. in Boston. Boston Children's Hospital will receive 25 percent of sales and all of the tips Feilhaber earned during the two-hour event.
Both Revolution and ice cream fans descended on an already bustling shop for Feilhaber's appearance. He scooped the most complicated orders with the same poise he shows on the field, making it look easy.
It's a good thing his technique was already honed because it was hot out. The line moved steadily, leaving him plenty of time to pose for pictures, sign autographs and chat with fans.
Revolution players are among the most accessible professional athletes in town. Keep your eyes peeled because you never know when they will show up in front of or behind the counter of one of your favorite spots.
