Either Powerade really does not know its audience, or the poor man’s Gatorade has a sick sense of humor.
An electronic billboard visible from I-93 in Medford, Mass., just three miles from the TD Garden, congratulates Miami Heat forward LeBron James on winning the NBA championship, according to the Metro’s Matt Burke.
“Congrats, LeBron,” reads the sports drink advertisement, which is also found on Powerade’s Facebook page. “A championship has a nice ring to it.”
James and the Heat ousted the Celtics from the Eastern Conference Finals in seven games, so the billboard is a punch to the gut for any Celtics fan who may catch a glimpse while driving by.
