Floyd Mayweather Jr., Tiger Woods, LeBron James Among Usual Suspects on List of Richest American Athletes (Photos)You know Alex Rodriguez, Kobe Bryant and Dale Earnhardt Jr. are rich. It’s just awful nice of Sports Illustrated to tell you each year how rich they really are.

SI has released its list of the 50 highest-earning American athletes, and it’s pretty similar to the rankings Forbes released last month (minus all those pesky international stars, of course).

As with the Forbes list, Tiger Woods has seen his stock drop. The one-time lock for No. 1 on the highest-paid athletes list is just third on SI’s board, with counterpart Phil Mickelson even bringing in more than Woods thanks to endorsement earnings. Floyd Mayweather Jr. has taken the top spot after some record-setting boxing hauls.

The NBA has control of No. 4 and 5 on the list, with Bryant and LeBron James, respectively, taking the honors. Two New York Yankees — A-Rod at No. 6 and Derek Jeter at No. 9 — are also in the Top 10, which has Peyton Manning at No. 7 and Earnhardt as eighth-richest.

Boston athletes don’t crack the rankings until spot No. 25, where Adrian Gonzalez takes the honor. Tom Brady and Kevin Garnett are right behind at 26th and 27th, respectively. Carl Crawford (36) and Josh Beckett (44) are also in the Fortunate 50.
