Hope Solo Calls Out Brandi Chastain for Commentating, Says Soccer Has Changed Since U.S. Legend PlayedEveryone seemed to be in fine spirits after the U.S. Women’s Soccer team’s rollicking 3-0 win over Colombia on Saturday.

Everyone, that is, except the goalkeeper who had a pretty easy day of work.

Hope Solo took to Twitter just a couple of hours after the game and ripped former U.S. soccer legend Brandi Chastain, who commentated the game with Arlo White.

Solo seemed to have a problem Chastain’s remarks about the United States’ goalkeeping and defense, although several people who watched the game didn’t remember Chastain saying anything especially critical or out of line.

“No idea what Brandi Chastain said on NBCSN about Hope Solo & U.S. defense,” Sports Illustrated senior soccer writer Grant Wahl said on Twitter.

Chastain apparently criticized the defensive positioning of Rachel Buehler, one of the best defenders on the team, after she gave up the ball at one point.

Chastain was very critical near the end of Team USA’s victory over France on Wednesday about how the U.S. was closing out the game, but she was much more glowing in her comments on Saturday. She had high compliments for Abby Wambach, Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd as the three combined on the game’s three goals and as each player gutted through what became a chippy game, with Wambach taking a blow to the eye.

Chastain logged 192 appearances on the U.S. national team in her career and nailed the winning penalty kick in the United States’ victory over China in the 1999 World Cup, which led to her now-famous shirtless victory yell.

It’s not the first time Solo has been in the middle of controversy for her life choices or forthright comments.

Check out Solo’s tweets below to see what she thinks of Chastain.
