Kevin Youkilis left Wednesday's Chicago White Sox-Minnesota Twins game in the third inning with a sprained ankle.
According to the team, Youkilis is day-to-day with the injury. The former Red Sox third baseman sustained the injury on an RBI single when he was rounding first base.
Injuries have been a big problem for Youkilis over the past couple of years, as he missed most of 2010-2011 with wrist and hip injuries. Earlier this season, Youkilis dealt with back issues, opening the door for Will Middlebrooks to take over his spot in the lineup..
The White Sox will be hoping the injury isn't serious, since Youkilis has been hot since joining the team. He's hitting .277 with five home runs and 20 RBIs in only 25 games.
Chicago's going to need all the help they can get holding off the new-look Tigers, who recently upgraded their roster by trading Anibal Sanchez and Omar Infante. The ChiSox are neck-and-neck with Detroit for the AL Central lead.
