Adam Scott Bettors Get Money Back Following Epic Collapse at British Open

Adam Scott Bettors Get Money Back Following Epic Collapse at British OpenWith a four-shot lead with only four holes to go, Adam Scott looked like a near guarantee to win the British Open.

But then Scott collapsed. Four bogeys in a row, and Ernie Els was the champion.

All the people who placed bets on Scott saw their winnings disappear. But luckily, one sports book has sympathized with the gamblers who picked Scott.

One gambling site called SportsBettingOnline felt the pain of its customers after Scott's collapse and refunded the bets placed on Scott to win the British Open, according to GeoffSchackelford.com.

"With so many favorites including Woods not cashing, it was a good day for sportsbooks. But that wasn't the case for those who dropped money on Scott," said Dave Johnson, head oddsmaker for SportsBettingOnline. "We feel it's our duty to refund the players for taking such a bad bet. His collapse was historic, and we know the bettors who had him must feel as awful as he does."

Although it must sting knowing they had 40-to-1 odds in their favor for Scott to win the British Open, getting a refund for a failed bet is almost unheard of, and it must have helped to soften the blow.
