Jacoby Kilburn was unlike most fans visiting Fenway Park during the team’s last weekend series for a couple of reasons. For starters, his unique name makes him pretty instantly identifiable as a Red Sox fan. Or at least, he will be when he grows up — this Jacoby is only a little over 12 months old.
Jacoby is also different because he and his family had traveled all the way from Cold Lake, Alberta, Canada to see the Red Sox play — not an easy trip to make, no matter how old you are. But the biggest difference between Jacoby and many of the tens of thousands of other fans packing the Fens to see the Sox take on the Yankees, was that while many of us have had the privilege of visiting historic Fenway Park several times over the course of its 100-year history, he had never been. Until now.
NESN Nation’s Dan Duquette met up with Jacoby and his family — parents Mike and Andreanne, uncle Geoff and aunt Lindsay — to join the celebration of America’s Most Beloved Ballpark in the first of NESN.com’s “Fenway First-Timers” video series.
