The Panthers wideout is giving $100,000 to the victims of the movie theater shooting, according to SI.com. The money will go to help offset medical costs for the victims and their families.
"As a father and husband I cannot imagine the pain and suffering the victims are going through," he said in a statement. "My family's hearts and prayers are extended to theirs, and I hope this contributions might assist in paying some of the medical bills that will allow these families to move forward in this tragic circumstance. Hopefully this helps a little bit. From one NFL city to another, God bless."
Smith is just the latest athlete to help ease the pain for the victims of the shooting that left 12 dead and 58 more injured. The Colorado Rockies visited with victims at hospitals on Thursday, and the Broncos have also visited victims. Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning also called victims in the days after the shooting.
