Report: Dustin Pedroia Headed to 15-Day Disabled List with Thumb InjuryIt's been that kind of week for the Red Sox.

First, they lost five of seven on a West Coast road trip, scoring just 14 runs total. Then on Thursday, the Sox added injury to insult, as Dustin Pedroia will reportedly head to the 15-day disabled list with a thumb injury, according to Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald.

Pedroia missed six games last month after tearing the adductor muscle in his thumb, but the injury that will send Pedroia to the DL is in a different area, on the back of the thumb. It is thought that the injury occurred when Pedroia dove for a ball in shallow right field in Tuesday's loss to the Athletics.

The Sox are 5-3 without Pedroia so far this season, but they're about to enter a brutal stretch of the schedule, with a four-game set against the Yankees on tap this weekend, followed by the All-Star break and series with the Rays, White Sox, Blue Jays and Rangers.
