Report: Greg Stiemsma Expected to Sign With Timberwolves, Leaves Celtics Frontcourt Razor ThinGreg Stiemsma spent much of last season developing his game under the guidance of Kevin Garnett. Now, it appears that Stiemsma is headed back to Garnett's former stomping grounds to carve out a new chapter in his budding NBA career.

Stiemsma, who played 55 games at center for the C's in 2011-12, is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves, according to ESPN 1500 in Minneapolis.

After spending a few seasons traveling through Europe and the NBA Developmental League, Stiemsma finally cracked the roster in Boston and carved out a nice niche for himself as a standout defender and shot blocker.

The Timberwolves are expected to sign Stiemsma with their Midlevel Exception (MLE), which should net the big man nearly $3 million. Stiemsma's addition should help make up for the loss of amnestied center Darko Milicic, who the Celtics oddly enough appear interested in signing.

Boston will likely be unable to match the offer to Stiemsma, as they are already over the luxury tax and still hoping to use the rest of their cap space on free-agent swingman Courtney Lee.
