Report: Lakers 'Very Interested' in Trading for Dwight Howard, Inform One Player He Might Get DealtIt’d be wise to view this rumor with caution, but it’s interesting, nevertheless.

The Lakers are considering an offer from the Magic that would send Dwight Howard to Los Angeles in exchange for Andrew Bynum, according to PepperOnSports.com (a website operated by Jackie Pepper, an associate producer for Yahoo! Sports).

The most interesting part of Pepper’s report, however, is that the Lakers have reportedly informed one player that he might be part of the package deal, and that he could get traded at any moment. She also adds that while whether a deal actually goes down is anyone’s guess, “as of Thursday afternoon pacific time, the Lakers front office phones were blazing hot with Howard chatter.”

Again, grab a grain of salt while soaking in this rumor, but a Howard-Bynum swap is an intriguing possibility given each player’s current situation and talent level. It would also be the second major deal of the offseason for the Lakers, who acquired Steve Nash from the Suns this week.

It should be noted that a deal would also go against an ESPN.com report that said the Lakers plan to keep their core intact to play alongside Nash.
