Hockey hasn't had the kind of history with Hollywood that baseball, football and boxing have enjoyed. Sure there have been some great hockey films, and we've even broken down the 10 best right here on NESN.com.

And there have been some notable additions in recent years, including this past year's entertaining entry to the list with Goon.

But while hockey may trail some other sports in full-length features, the stars and memorable characters of the game have held their own in a smaller niche. As Bruins tough guy Shawn Thornton has proven this summer in a brief but memorable appearance in Ted, hockey players know how to make the most of their limited screen time with some of the most unforgettable cameos in film history.
