'Ibramania' Hits Paris, Zlatan Ibrahimovic Evokes Memories of Beatlemania in PSG Introduction (Video)To some, Zlatan Ibrahimovic came across as arrogant at his introductory press conference when he quipped, “I don’t know much about the French league but they know who I am!” Turns out the man was just speaking the truth — his arrival in Paris looked like a redux of Beatlemania.

The striker would be wise to invest some of his £11 million ($17.2 million) annual salary in some bodyguards after his introduction to swarms of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) fans almost incited a riot.

Shepherded by PSG officials to Parisian landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Avenue des Champs-Élysées, the Swede was met by hoards of red and blue clad fans at every stop.

Some fans were content just to catch a glimpse of their newest idol, but others couldn’t contain their enthusiasm. The former AC Milan man had to bully his way through the screaming crowds, with some fans even pulling the lanky attacker’s hair.

Sweden’s captain is just one piece (albeit a very accomplished one) of PSG’s shopping spree this summer. The Qatari-owned club is assembling a “dream team” and money is no object.

Ibrahimovic and fellow Serie A transplants Ezequiel Lavezzi, Thiago Silva, and Marco Verratti have arrived in the French capital for a combined price of £87.1 million ($136.97 million). The former Ajax player has won a league trophy in nine of the past 11 seasons, and with legendary Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti at the helm, PSG is already considered a lock to win the Ligue 1 title in 2012-13.

Check out the video below to see PSG fans crazed reaction to their newest signing.
