The Red Sox bullpen has been taxed lately, but one hurler who's currently being forced to watch from home is Alfredo Aceves.
Aceves was suspended three games by the Red Sox over the weekend for "conduct detrimental to the team." He'll even be forced to join the Sox in California this week, rather than flying out on the team's plane with the rest of the club.
The suspension is somewhat of a rarity in baseball. When players get suspended, it tends to come down from the league, not the individual team. However, general manager Ben Cherington noted a desire to become a more disciplined team as a whole in the wake of this weekend's blockbuster trade. Aceves' suspension shows that he's not joking.
Check out the video above to hear NESN's Tom Caron and Peter Gammons discuss Aceves' suspension and what we could expect to see from the Red Sox bullpen down the stretch.
