Anderson Jersey Misspelling Characterizes Manchester United's Opening Day DudManchester United fans can’t blame Anderson for their team’s loss on Monday.

The midfielder wasn’t even on the field at Goodison park. At least, that’s how it looked to the untrained eye.

Anderson did, in fact, play a role in United’s defeat. He entered the game with five minutes remaining in the second half.

But the name on the back of his jersey was misspelled. “Andesron”was the name that appeared above the number eight, as the R and S were misplaced.

“The 24-year-old Brazilian midfielder joins an exclusive club featuring David Beckham, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, John O’Shea and Tomasz Kuszczak to have endured the same fate,” the Metro reports.

The fun-loving Anderson was also sporting a new look, as he rid himself of the long braids he has worn for much of his professional career in favor of a modern mowhawk.

It was an otherwise uneventful evening for the Anderson. United suffered its first defeat in a Premier League opener since 2004 and most eyes were fixed on new signing Robin van Persie.

But little, if anything, can happen on the field in the digital age and escape public scrutiny — even an honest mistake like this one.
