The 2012 season has been an anomaly for Cliff Lee. Usually one of the league’s best pitchers, the Phillies ace didn’t notch his first win of the season until July 4 despite delivering his share of quality performances.
On Thursday, he experienced another strange occurrence, but this time it took place at the plate. During an at-bat against Brewers pitcher Jose Veras, Lee managed to check his swing, but suddenly fell on the ground in the process.
As lackluster as the sequence was for the 33-year-old, don’t doubt his hitting skills. Last season, Lee launched two home runs and seven RBIs, an impressive feat for a pitcher.
This season, he has collected nine hits and two RBIs. But that said, Thursday’s moment likely appears to be one of his most embarrassing moments in his 11-year career in the majors
