Not long into the fourth round it was over, and Framingham native Danny O’Connor prevailed over Eddie Soto in Gillette Stadium’s first-ever boxing match, after the Revolution took on the Montreal Impact.
After the fight, the local boy O’Connor sounded like he could continue for a couple more rounds, talking about his efforts to bring boxing back to the city of Boston, as well as some of his work with Dropkick Murphys lead singer Ken Casey‘s Claddagh Fund, a charity serving a number of causes.
All in all, though, it was a night to remember at Gillette, as New Englanders cheered on the local to victory, and now O’Connor can sit back and take pleasure in all the area support.
Check out O’Connor’s post-fight interview in the video above.
