As Jamison Coyle says in the video above, on Sunday, August 12, Gillette Stadium will see a soccer game and a boxing match within the span of 20 minutes. Not a bad night of sports, indeed.
And one of the men stepping into the ring after the New England Revolution vacate the pitch on that night is a local boy. A local boy with an Irish name, at that. Danny O'Connor is set to take on Eddie Soto in the first-ever boxing match held at Gillette Stadium. O'Connor even mentions in his interview that he can't get sidetracked by the excitement of performing in front of his hometown fans, and that he'll treat this fight just as if the ring were inside any other venue.
You can hear the rest of what O'Connor had to say in regards to his upcoming bout in this clip from NESN Daily.
