No one told Jacoby Ellsbury that these are the dog days of summer, when a long season starts to catch up to players and batters have trouble producing at the plate.

Then again, Ellsbury is still fresh, considering his season didn't really start until after the All-Star Break thanks to a nasty shoulder injury right after Opening Day. Maybe that's why the center fielder has been on fire lately — he has a nine-game hit streak going, with two hits in each of his last five games.

Ellsbury has pulled his average all the way up from .250 to .278, and he enters Wednesday night's game looking to do more damage. He's 3-for-7 (.429) against C.J. Wilson in his career, meaning Ellsbury is right on track to get even hotter.
